welcome back kids

here we are minutes before philosophy. german is with my prof from last year. she's really cool. history of rome is gonna be great. prof morgan is absolutely crazy and british. i'm stoked. we'll see about phil, but it's already pass/fail :) and i have anthro with jen, so that shouldn't be a big deal. i think tis gonna be a good semester. hmmm, 12:03 and still no phil prof. i suppose i shouldn't expect too much from the phil dept though. i'm glad to be back at school. please disregard my not caring comment from earlier.

i am the warrior; bang bang!

recent developments

the vapidity of news reporters continues to amaze me. is it possible that they really take themselves seriously?

school starts tomorrow, but it doesn't feel like it. Because I'm so far from campus and "student life" i don't have the sense of apprehension and excitement that buzzes around campus this time of the year. it's kinda sad. but i'm a senior this year, so i really don't care. i just wanna graduate and make money so i don't have to worry about making rent or scrimping change to eat. being broke is so overrated.

owen wilson tried to kill himself. am i sad about this? not really. luke's enough wilson for the both of them.

excessively preponderant than civil

what's the point of writing anything here? it's just you and me. i already know everything in my head and i tell you everything anyway. meh.

walking in the kitchen this morning, it occured to me that there is a generation of iraqi children who have no personal experience with the offenses and repression of the Hussein regime, but are surrounded with violence that exists because of our occupation. these children are in a very crucial point in their development where they will remember and hold onto this period as we all do with our childhoods. they, most likely, will not think that our "liberation" is/was a positive thing. and i fear that this will lead to anti-american/western sentiment that cannot be unlearned, even if democracy and western culture come to permeate the nation. i'm not necessarily concerned with this generation becoming radical islamists, or whatever fox news and the administration are refering to them as lately. What i am concerned about is that once this generation grows up and comes to power in Iraq, the majority will want to form an anti-western government that will influence the surrounding area. Also, with our rebuilding efforts, if we ever get them back to operational, and they make something out of the desert, they can influence global economic politics. especially if iran continues its own anti-west political philosophy, the two countries could form a powerful coalition, reminescent of the influence exerted by the soviet bloc to oppose and confound western policies and governments. this would require the two groups to realize that they have the same enemy in america and put aside their sunni/shiite division. a united islamic front against the corruption of the west could be quite dangerous...
but this leads me to wonder if perhaps the government isn't fueling the islamic division as a way to destabilize the area and play the groups off one another until we have a solitary group to work with that becomes dependent on the US for support against their enemies.

so gavin was back at work on tuesday. so i'm back with rob in production. except now i'm in CP effective today because jr is heading back to lubbock this weekend. jen and i moved into the carvers' last night and will be residing there for 2 weeks. got the money situation just about figured out. it looks like i've lost about 20 pounds since i've started eating right and occasionally exercising. school is gonna be cool this semester...i hope. but right now it's just work and sleep around here. but hey, it pays the bills.

everything will be all right...

on the subject of "working"

well, i'm downtown for the next month it would appear. Gavin quit on friday, so i've taken his area.

Wednesday, July 4

it's been a long time since i've had anything i wanted to record for posterity. work is boring the hell out of me. back and forth to cedar park and downtown. whoopie.

tomorrow begins the process of training with ernie. it's gonna be rough at first i would imagine. but after awhile, i'll get into a routine. i really want to get back in shape though.

O Brave New World!

and not just the book either!
the last few weeks have had a mix of feelings about the future of this vessel. where our destination is, how we're getting there, etc. things like the wedding and grad school are quite vexing. but oh well.
coincidentally, i happen to also be reading Huxley's novel. it's quite good. has some interesting ideas about social control that i think might be good for society.
work has been oscilating of late. after school got out, steve sent me to downtown to help with reception and production. but last friday, the manager of Cedar Park up and quit, so i've had to fill in since then, except for today when i was called back to downtown to fill in for Charles while he is on vacation. but then i was recalled back here to CP for the afternoon and most likely until next friday. my old buddy JR Collier is gonna work up here at CP this summer starting next week, so i get to train him.
Got back in touch with mr Brown last night. he's doing well for himself and i'm happy for him. he's doing alot of music lately and has a job, but still living with his folks. it turns out that he is in fact adopted after years of us wondering.
Shrek 3 was good, but i'm really looking forward to Pirates 3 in the next week. johnny depp is so dreamy :P
dance your cares away...worries for another day

of all the women i have known

i've had to deal with some crazy bitches in my life. this last week as been no exception.
i've been reassigned to the Cedar Park store to cover for the manager who just up and quit on Friday. don't really know why he left. but the sales person up here is sally. sarcastically called aunt sally in insincere affection by most of the senior burks employees. this bitch never stops complaining. as Mr. Johnson said yesterday at Ryan's party, " there are those complainers who never have a solution." sally is one of those.
the other bitch i've had the displeasure of encountering this past week is Charlie Knight. she's the mom of Jamie Knight, who had his Eagle Court of Honor with James this past weekend. Everything has to be done her way or she throws a fit. what a bitch.

The Prince - Intrologue

I bid thee, gaze upon my haggard visage and tell me what you see. Is it the countenance of a stately prince who ruled over his lands with fairness and devotion? Or is it the time-scarred façade of a man who has seen the blackest evil known to all the world and has been made a shell of everything he previously was?
I can not give you a distinct answer, for I am biased toward the former and the gloriousness of my past. Yet I can not deny the tortures I have suffered and their effects that leave me the latter.
The events of my tales are not unique to literature, however, their details and results are singular to my existence.
It is best that I do not bore you with the beginning of my story, as we have all heard the births and childhoods of princes and kings in the epics and legends; mine was no different or particular.
The commencement of my tribulations was on the second night of my honeymoon.

and so it begins...

have you every seen a squirrel ride a bike? well, i guess he wasn't so much riding, as much as sitting on the seat very determinedly...

in a trendy setting

lunch today is provided by panera, but funded by my proletarian sweat.
work is really slow today, and probably wil be from now on. Bury + Partners, our biggest client at westlake, moved downtown to 3 floors of the Frost bank building. So they took their business with them to the downtown burks. good for them. i still get paid the same for less work. which i can deal with. :D
the first mate is ill once again. she believes it to be a cold. oh well, not much i can do for that but to make her comfortable.
Ich denke, dass mein Exam um Montag gang gut. i have an epics paper due tomorrow, but it's only 4-6 pages, so c'est facile. then next monday, i have a deviance test, but that class is now pass/fail, so meh. and of course cleaver's class is always a joy.
Leveled vilduil to 64 and a half so far. got lockpicking back to level, same with poisons. now i just need farm more leather to get that up to snuff. i think this weekend will be good for WoWing it up. i'm very cyclical in my desire to play. but i need to read more and watch my netflix. but it's only tuesday, so there is more school-week to complete first.
I'm loving the new laptop. it's perfect. i really like that it's tiny and i actually prefer that over a big screen. i could just use alittle more battery life. but that's the only complaint.
I need to still transfer over my files from the old computer, but i can't get the burks ftp to work from home. no idea why. and i don't have an external harddrive, althought they are inexpensive... So instead i'm gonna try to import files a few gigs at a time with my lifedrive. i just have to sit down and do it. maybe while i'm watching one of my netflix....brilliant.
i love fresh baked french baguette. the outside is hard and crunchy, but the inside is fluffy.
wow, this is a pretty well developed post. that's unusual :p
well, the battery is gonna die soon. so this is it. transmission out.

last night...i had a dream about you...

Thursday, March 22

Ye Gods!

so, the birthday season is officially over after last night. Had dinner yesterday with Uncle Tim and Elaine at Maudie's after Epics. It was great. both the first mate and i had the verde chicken enchiladas. We had great conversation with the elders. Elaine's a total lefty like us.
Sunday (my birthday) i got my new laptop. It's the HP DV2221us. The screen is a 14.1", but it's great. it's very similar to the first mate's, but smaller. Civ 4 and WoW work well on it. i finally got vilduil's lockpicking past 300 so i can pick Outland chests and lockboxes. woohoo!

Saturday, March 10

wii!

tonight was great. all four of us wii-bowled. dad won two games, but so did i and i claimed the highest score of the night. in power throws, i was the best too. basically, i am the greatest.

Friday, March 9

the run up to 21

well, spring break is here. 3 days of work, then 3 days of camping. then 1 day of partying.
hopefully there will be a new computer involved in the mix. also, financial stability would be great too. :D
been feeling pretty crappy lately. allergies are a bitch. my throat is still sore and scratchy. i need to exercise more, it makes me feel better.
school goes well, but i need to get more of my reading done. but there are much more exciting things to than read sociology, like play WoW or watch the DVR.
I think i would like to do a research project (thesis, dissertation, independent study, whatever) on the influence of music on social movements and their public influence. how does the music and artists connect with the people and get them active and/or vocal? i know that music in the sixties for the civil rights movement influenced people, the punk movement of the seventies. heck, even the songs sung by slaves in the fields to get them to the north would be somewhat relevant. there's a lot of material out there. it's just a matter of collecting it, analyzing it, synthesizing it and writing it. woohoo!

Tuesday, February 27

arg!

so i spent most of my day yesterday being unproductive, but highly amused. however, i did not get my work done for cleaver's today. so i was gonna wake up early to get it done, but i forgot to reset my alarm. woke up right before class and slept in until it was time to go to work. woke again (5th time) but didn't feel like going to work. so i called in and here i am with the day to myself. oh, and the first mate is skipping all her classes until she pukes and feels better. the day is already turning out interesting and it's just begun at ten:twenty.

let romance bleed away

today has ended in ruin...

it started off well. woke up late. left the house early to meet dad for breakfast and then to see what was wrong with the car. he didn't think we were having breakfast. so just the first mate and i did. then went by and found out that cylinder one of my engine was misfiring. whoopie.
went to the prufrock's. couldn't get anything because i have a total of eighty-eight ($88) dollars to my name. my computer was hemoraging battery power like my heart right now. sociology was kinda boring. german was kinda boring. then the first mate and i got which wich. oh, and it was really cold. after lunch i couldn't stay awake. i barely made it through epics. then drove home and stopped at H-E-B. and everything went down hill from there...

oh and happy valentines day
you and me...like one heart beat

A Boy Named Chase

So i'm finally getting around to importing my Johnny Cash collection on my computer. I love his simplicity and soul. You just don't have people doing what he did anymore...and that's a shame.
The first mate is asleep, and i have to wake her up at 5. She's not gonna be happy. :P
Got both of my papers for class done this morning by the grace of God. speaking of the Lord...Johnny's Gospel tunes always make me feel better.
Anyway, lots of reading tonight for Cleaver's class. And then work tomorrow, and then more homework. Yippee!
I love sitting outside on the deck with the sky blue, the bird flittering in the trees singing, J. Cash singing songs of a time long gone but so near.
As my friend Martha would say...it's a good thing. :D
Ghost Riders in the Sky...

Amateur Cartography

This past week, i picked up passes to a free Ben Kweller concert at the Union on Feb. 24. I think it is probably the make-up show for ACL. It's gonna be good, i can feel it. :D
Today the first mate and i purchased chairs for the deck. Now we can enjoy the great outdoors from the comfort of home. Best of all, my laptop gets internet out here, so i can bring these wonderful episodes of blog-glory to you.
Virtue ran into the sliding glass door while we were sitting outside. The first mate cracked up and Virtue was terribly embarrased.
I'm looking to get a new computer for my birthday. This one is old and lacks the power to play games the way i would like it to. Also, the hard drive is about full, so i'll need a bigger one for the additional music and games i acquire. I like the HP DV2200 series. Good hardware, but a bit pricy. Gonna have to rally the family to get it.
ZZ Top is coming to the Backyard on April 14. I think i'm gonna try to get Mom tickets for her birthday (April 4), but they are fifty ($50) dollars a piece. Gonna have to save up for them. But I think it will be worth it.
Yesterday the firstmate and i planned out our meals for the week and purchased all the necessary rations for the galley for about fifty ($50) dollars. If we stick to it, this will greatly decrease our budget spent on food. Which is good. Because we spend alot on food per month. But then again, food is good.
I finished the Mahabharata this morning. It's terrible violent and gory and ends with everyone dying. But yeah, now it's time for Deutsch then Deviance. I'll post more tomorrow at school ;-)

don't taunt the transients

For those of you who find it necessary to give money to panhandlers on the street corners: if all you have is a twenty dollar bill, so not ask the pleader (beggar is a bit demeaning) if he has change. They do not appreciate it.

I don't have any normal-wear socks available today, so i am wearing my super nice black dress nylons. sounds like tis time for laundry again.
The first mate is out sick again and did not attend school today, even though she stated via email yesterday: "i really want to get up early and go to breakfast tomorrow. this time, my heart is set on it. and no matter how sick i get, i am not missing any more class."
Yesterday was payday. That makes me very happy. I like getting paid for the work I do. Oh, and Burks via Steve covered lunch from Whataburger. I love free lunch days. :D
Last night the Revenant went back to Azeroth and took on that dragon bitch Onyxia. Now, while we were 61-70, we did a 40 man raid with only 18. and my Bloodfang Hood dropped finally. it's gonna be a nice helm for a while. It was good to play with my friends again. Stupid homework keeping me busy.
I think that is all for now. Ending Transmission

from yesterday...the fear...

Thursday, February 8

things that go type in the night

it is much, much too late to be up. but my devotion/fear to/of cleaver keeps me up to this hour. but it's bedtime, as i have a breakfast appointment with the first mate. then class at 8, and possibly work after that, possibly sleeping depending on whether or not i'm crashing by 9:30.
must...sleep... X(

Scurvy Curse

Arg, the first mate be ill today. Lonely ol' me be left by meself until six this even.
Wrote a mini-essay for Deutsch this morning. Professor Ivanova will probably rip it apart...my grammar skills are poor.
Monday night i composed a new song on Acid. Now i have to come up with some lyrics and perhaps a musical refrain...
Vercengetrix is now up to level 10. I love my Draenei warrior. i really enjoy melee classes (rogues and warriors) and running around the starting zones. But i really need to get Vilduil up and grinding. Well, maybe not grinding, but leveling. Not sure if i wanna try lots of dungeon runs or questing. Quests have nice loot and experience, but so do the instances now...hmm...tough choice...

Music and Monkeys

For those of you who are acute enough to put the time of this post together, yes i am "blogging" during class. In other news, i find that i enjoy both songs by K.T. Tunstall on the radio. What could be the possible meaning of this...?
through an evaluation of my musical tastes and collection recently i have found it lacking in certain areas. The following is a list of compact discs that i hope to purchase very soon to sate my musical desire:
30 Seconds to Mars, A Beautiful Lie -I purchased this album when it first came out and before 30STM burst onto the alternative scene. I found it to be a large departure from their Eponymous debut and was originally turned off by it. However, in recent weeks I found a new appreciation for the new album. But, since originally purchasing the disc, i lost it. So a new copy must be bought.
Daft Punk, Discovery - I have mp3s of the singles from this album ("One More Time", "Aerodynamic") but the other day at work i watched some of the music videos for Discovery. A collection of the videos were made into a film titled Interstella 5555. The film is in anime and is heavy in 1970's references. It's really good. But i would like to have the whole album, which is the sole soundtrack of the film. Interstella 5555 is on my Amazon wishlist for those needing birthday present ideas.
Hmmm, that's all i can think of for new music at the moment; i thought there was more.
Tonight is (hopefully) the last trip to IKEA to furnish the apartment. Two (2) Benno CD Towers are on the docket for purchase. Mom will be accompanying with the Expedition, as the boxes for the towers are eight (8) feet in length. Also, she's paying for them. Yay!
Tomorrow is a tenitive trip to the San Antonio Zoo for the first mate. We'll see how that turns out.

Back onto the Open Seas

Wow, so i really dropped the ball on updating daily. It's been almost a month since the last post. School goes well, work is lame. Must...stay...in...school...
Oh, and i like sudoku.

Tuesday, January 9

So This is the New Year...

It's been a long time since the last post, but I've been living too much to take the time to write it down. Wrote this last night, so it's kinda fuzzy recounting the details. Hope to be caught up soon. I've decided to make this my daily journal along with a thought diary. Oh, and the nautical theme will probably be on its way out, unless it's a post about thoughts or I just feel like being a pirate :D

January 1st 2007: New Year’s Day; Today was the first big moving day once we got the new apartment. We made a couple trips and moved a lot from both Cedar Park and 26th Street. Dad and James helped and with the truck were able to move all the big stuff like the bed and the couch. That night was also the first time I used the Carver’s nice English-style bath. It’s big and porcelain and holds two people quite nicely. I gave Jen a back massage and then a full body one. After that we watched some of Hogan’s Heroes Season Four, which I received for X-mas from both the Grandparents and Len. Season Four definitely had a bigger budget and the jokes are more humorous, which I think comes from more character development. And so the first day of the year ended in a stranger’s house for the third night. I know it’s silly to set an arbitrary start and end date to goals, but I still think that it’s nice to have resolutions so that there’s some direction and improvement for the year.
Chase’s 2007 Resolutions/Goals:
1. Lose 50~ pounds (this will roughly bring me back down to my end of high school weight, which was quite healthy.)
2. Read one (1) fiction book and one (1) non-fiction book a month in addition to my reading load for class.
3. Determine to which graduate schools I would like to apply (MUST be done for any future machinations to start)
4. Give more kisses to my Love (should be easily accomplished)
5. Try to develop my art more (I’m enjoying the medium of crayon on heavy, coarse paper. It gives good sketchy lines and texture)
6. Be more tolerant and compassionate in my everyday actions, words, and thoughts.

January 2nd: Back to Work, this time at Downtown instead of Cedar Park or Westlake. Rob was good to see again. There was a new guy, Gavin, whom I was there to augment. He seems nice enough, but fairly green for his supposed 8 years experience, even on the easy stuff like jogging and binding. Oh, and he talks a lot. Everyone seemed in good spirits, even though it was the day after a holiday weekend and thus a comparative Monday. Made lots of Specification books due to Ed’s absence, but I enjoy doing spec work now and again. Also, today was the day my medical claim was settled with State Farm and I received and deposited a check to the tune of four hundred dollars ($400). In the evening, my lady and I dined at our favorite Asian restaurant, Sushi Sake, where we feasted on Eel, Alaskan, and Californian rolls and Red Snapper sashimi, which was delicious per the usual. After gorging ourselves on raw fish and miso soup, we went by Best Buy to return the compact disc of the Cure that Jennifer had purchased for my X-mas present. While at Best Buy, we checked out their selection of televisions (or as the incomparable Chris Yates refers to them, “Idiot Boxes”). We found on that suits our budget and requirements; the Sony 27” WEGA should fulfill all our televisory needs for the near future. A trip to Barnes and Noble in the Arboretum followed Best Buy and we browsed quite a bit. I got two Cure compact discs, “Staring at the Sea” and “Galore,” both are greatest hits collections, but both are incomplete in their track lists. Also, I purchased “U2 18” which is a U2 collection and Jen got a book and a digital video disc of some silly film with a guy with crazy hair (Amadeus). That’s all I can remember of the second, as it has been six days when this has been written.
